Teaming Up for Optimal Health
Form follows function! Most chiropractors regard the elimination of symptoms as the only part of a persons care and that is why most doctors only do relief care. However, if all that the chiropractor does is to reduce the pain and stop there, the chances of the condition recurring are much greater, if not Guaranteed. In order to prevent a rapid recurrence of symptoms, it is necessary to continue receiving care even though your symptoms are gone.
During the correction / restorative phase of your care, you may or may not have to receive adjustments as often as you did during the first phase of care and, depending on your particular circumstances, you will begin doing exercises and stretches at the Milam Chiropractic center and/or at home to help accelerate your healing.
All treatment is based upon proven muscle and exercise physiology. Just like working-out at the gym or training for a particular sports event, you may be coming in to the office multiple times a week to achieve your corrective goal. There will be regular evaluations along the way with measurable outcomes and at the end of your corrective treatment recommendations, a comparative analysis will be performed to measure percentage of improvement.
Do not be discouraged if you have mild flare-ups in your symptoms on occasion along the way. This is normal. Flare-ups are bound to occur during this phase because your body has not fully healed and muscles have not adapted to the new shape or structure. Depending on the severity of your injury or condition and how long you have been suffering from it, this phase of your care may last anywhere from a few months to a year.
